Making Your House Smell Yummy
The other night I was doing some vacuuming and I actually had to step out into my hallway and give the hallway rug a good going over. When I stepped back into my apartment I could really smell the lingering residue of cooking in the kitchen, which of course permeates into any fabrics I have in the house. I was not really pleased with how things were smelling. I mean it wasn’t offensive but after all, I didn’t want my home smelling like that. Also, I have two cats and their litter boxes at times can take over the whole place.
I decided that I really needed to get out of the house because for one thing I was going batshit, stir crazy and for the other I wanted to get some Yankee Candles and figured that Bed Bath & Beyond would have the holiday ones out on display. I took a ride over to that shopping center and decided to hit up Pier One first to see if they had any more of the pretty reed diffusers like I picked up a few weeks ago that I am absolutely in love with. I think I did talk about it in a haul video I did at the end of September when I received my L perfume by Gwen Stefani. I did find the diffusers that I wanted, I actually picked up a different scent because this was colored green and it was gardenia and I wanted that one for my living room to match the decor in there. I also bought two pillar candles from there and then went next door to BB&B.
So of course as soon as I walked in to Bed Bath & Beyond, the front wall has the Yankee Candles right on display all ready for the holiday season. I was going to pick up one of their scented oil plugin diffusers but changed my mind and picked up a few votives. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Yankee Candle because they have some of the best scents around, but I just cannot see paying $24.99 for a large jar candle. It’s a shame really too because I am about an hour away from their flagship store which is such a cool place (I may go and bring my camera) but still I refuse to pay that price for a large candle. Needless to say, I do Yankee Candle in small doses so that I can pick a variety of scents that I like.
After doing some looking around, I went to the back of the store where their actual candle section is. I found some other candles that they carry that are actually Organic Living soy based candles. They had 18 ounce jar candles for $7.99! They are just so cute too! I picked up this one flavor, candy corn and it has a candy corn in the wax and also picked up bithrday cake which has fun confetti colored sprinkles on the top of it. Both of them that I picked were the belly style jars and I decided to get a candle warmer for $5.99. Now I’m sure that there are a lot of you that have used and seen candle warmers before, but let me tell you, this is the first time that I’ve ever used one. For years I could not figure out how the burn those tart candles that Yankee Candle sells HAHAHA! So I got it home and decided to try the candy corn one first because it was the one that I was least excited about out of the two.
OMG can I just tell you that my kitchen smells amazing! I’ve been going gaga over this for days now. It smells like I have been baking cookies for days in here. It does smell like that sweet, vanilla, corn syrupy kind of scent just like candy corn. My landlady stopped by tonight and when she came in she wanted to know what I was baking because it smelled so good. The really great thing that I love about this is that you get to experience more of the scent of the candle then if you were to burn the candle. Also the wax doesn’t disappear, I still have a full jar of candle wax and it smells just as strong as the first day I put it on the warmer.
So my suggestions if you have not tried it and you want your house to smell amazing, especially if you have children or pets that could knock things over, get one of these warmers and put your favorite candles on it. Like I said, don’t get me wrong because I still do love Yankee Candle but that’s for another day when I have more rich blood and can take a day trip down to Massachusetts.
