I have watched countless videos on how to clean your makeup brushes. The one thing that I have seen all of them do is use liquid hand soap or liquid dish washing soaps. These may be very effective ways to get the brushes really clean, however the problem that I have using that type of soap is that no matter how long I spend rinsing the brush heads, they stay loaded with soap long after I have tired of rinsing them. Then one day I decided to use one of the foaming hand soaps in my bathroom and noticed that it didn’t take that long for me to rinse them completely have not have any soap left behind. So basically, I picked up an inexpensive foaming antibacterial hand soap from CVS and that is what I use now for brush cleaning.

I was really happy to see so many pretty tops in Dress Barn this month. Lots of romantic types of tops and tees. I love the glittery glammy types of tees because you don’t have to dress them up too much. They give jeans a little more something than just a plain tee. Don’t get me wrong, I love just a plain white boyfriend tee shirt but sometimes I know I just want a little more pizzaz haha. Hey any way that I can get plus size clothes that make me look pretty and not age me or make me look like I’m trying to be too young are just fine for me.

Next I went to Bath and Body Works and stocked up majorly on my actibacterial foamy soaps I love so much and they had very many new yummy scents, especially Mint Chocolate. Hands down my favorite scent to date. Although I cannot wait to be able to use the Sugar Lemon either.

P1010092 200x300 FAT Foam Hair Dye for the Fat ChickThe fat chick being me. It’s not hair dye specifically for fat girls haha. So here I am it’s 8:41am and I’ve got a head full of hair dye.  My roots are coming in, and of course it is that time to cover them up once again.  I picked this box of dye up on Monday when I ran over to Walmart to grab a few things. I chose this one because I have been on a foam hair dye kick lately and I have been giving all of them a test drive. First thing is the SAMY Fat Foam is less expensive than both the John Frieda Precision Foam and L’Oreal’s Sublime Mousse.  Out of all three I would say that this one would be my second choice, my first choice being John Frieda and L’Oreal was definitely last. The reason being is that I was unhappy with the coverage and color matching with L’Oreal’s product.  I really don’t have many cons to list when it comes to John Frieda’s product and I’ve purchased it more than once.

Since I was on a budget that day I was being a little conscientious about what I was spending so I decided to go for it since it was about $5.00 cheaper than the Precision Foam. Now I do like the formula and the aroma of the dye is mild and tolerable.  The one draw back about SAMY Fat Foam is that you mix the dye in this big shaker that looks very similar to those shakers that you would use for smoothies in the kitchen. Once you shake it for the required amount of time and you are ready to apply it to your hair, there is nothing to help you control the application.  You simply scoop some out and apply it to your head starting with the part and proceeding with the rest of the steps. Now, I understand that generally we do apply hair dye with our hands, however I am usually used to a tip or a pump that controls the flow of the product and then I am able to control the amount of mess or clean up that I have to worry about.

Also I am not sure if I didn’t shake it vigorously enough but it was slightly more runny than what I expected when I opened it and this made it difficult for me to just scoop and apply. I had to worry about it dripping out of my hand and not getting all over the vanity in the bathroom. So if I do intend to use this product again, I am going to definitely make sure that I have old newspapers to lay down.  I’ve just been dying my hair for so many years that I generally do not bother even doing that because I’m good with not getting product all over the place.

Overall I think if perhaps they can rethink the container and make it more like a mousse pump of some kind where I can more effectively control how much product I am handling at one time, I might like it more.  In the end though, I can say that I am definitely not pleased with the color coverage. I chose the shade of dark brown and it says 100% gray coverage and I left it on longer than the normal time yet, my new gray growth now looks light brown.  I’m a little disappointed because for the same price I could have bought Clairol’s root touch up kit and I know it would have matched my hair color. Pfftt, oh well you live and you learn and now I know that I won’t be purchasing this one again.

As you can tell I am a DIY’er a lot of the time when it comes to my hair and that is simply because well, I don’t have the funds all the time but I always need a root touch up. There are also a lot of times when my hair just annoys the heck out of me and I have to do something different with it. I haven’t had a fringe or bangs in a very long time. I had tried to do the side-swept bangs and they were just annoying as hell and that was an idea I quickly regretted doing. They looked nice for about five minutes until I couldn’t stand them dropping in my face anymore haha. SO this is what I have opted for. When I get some cash, I will get a regular cut. Anyway…

Loved this new foaming hair colour that has been put out by John Frieda. I don’t have many cons to say about the product other than what I said in the video that the color bleeds a bit when you are washing your hair and that gives me some concern about color fading too fast for me. Only time will tell though!

Just a fun grab bag of the latest stuff I have been accumulating over the last couple of weeks. I got some new stuff to add to my own personal makeup kit.

I like the new falsies mascara my maybelline for the way it coats my lashes however I am not so sure about it making them look like you are wearing false eyelashes. Still a good product overall.

Found a very nice nude shade of lipstick by L’Oreal and a perfectly matching lipliner from Revlon lol yea they are competitors but oh well, they should match their colors better lol.

Then I got a couple of presents from Sephora like my new Buxom lip polishes and lipstick set and an Urban Decay liquid liner in perversion.
