I think I may have actually ruined the dark brown I have in one of the palettes because of this lol. Usually if you apply it wet it gets darker. What I like about these shadows is that they have great texture -- very silky feeling. I've been eyeing Pixi forever, since Target came out with it, but avoided it because of price. I have purchased 1 single eyeshadow, and today I picked up one of the eye palettes on clearance for $14. The $30 palette is also a really good deal and when I get the courage I'm going to buy that too. Have you tried it with a wet application? Usually if you apply it wet it gets darker.
